This evening feels like a date with Braque—
lamplight monochrome, bottle and plate
tessellated, crumpled napkin broken into glass
shards …from ‘Still Life with Captions’ (p26)
My latest chapbook is Wide River and I’m delighted to have worked with Calanthe Press on Tamborine Mountain, in south east Queensland, to publish this collection which was launched at Under the Greenwood Tree Books and Art on 16August 2020.
These poems will ‘take you to many of the places I’ve been—where I grew up in Maryborough on the Fraser Coast, different houses I’ve lived in, some years living in Scotland in my twenties … a shuffle of snapshots. A peeling back of layers. The adding of new interpretative colours …’
Calanthe Press is an initiative of the Calanthe Collective, inspired by the lives and work of poet and activist Judith Wright and philosopher and writer Jack McKinney who made their home on Tamborine Mountain for many years.
